Gun Carriage Tournament

AKA Karate Black Belt Academy took part in the annual Gun Carriage Tournament at the Oval on the 26th September. This year AKA fielded five teams altogether (two were cobbled together on the day with no training). Other teams were from Judo clubs, Sea Cadets, various cub and scout groups. This year there were 26 teams altogether competing in four separate categories.

AKA had a fantastic result, with two first place trophies. We also came second twice and a fifth place. One of our second place positions was only six seconds behind the leader that was a very tight group.

All the kids from all teams had a great time and the weather was very kind to us. The only downside was that this year the adults did not get to have a go. Sensei Paul asked organiser David Allen why there was no chance for the adults to have a go. The reply was that last year when we did we damaged the Guns too badly.

We are looking forward to the event next year and will attempt to defend two trophies instead of the one we did this year.
